Plot by Imdb: "Lee Long is a martial-arts champion who the police use as an undercover agent to infiltrate a drug ring responsible for importing heroin from Japan to Hong Kong. When he is identified and imprisoned, the police pressure his sister, Tina Long, to help them locate and free him. She gets the help of Lee's martial-arts school, including the powerful Sonny Kawasaka, for the inevitable battle-royale with the drug gang, which includes masters of many different 'schools' of fighting."

Ultra classic plot for this little martial art flick, with the mythical Sonny Chiba playing only a small part, most of the action revolving on Etsuko Shihomi (aka Sue Shiomi on the posters). There are some good fights despite the extremely ridiculous 70's Japanese fighting  style of "Karate with  funny faces", that Chiba popularized. The main character is cute enough and , of course, deadly...Her onscreen adversaries are over the top villains from all kind of different martial arts and martial crafts. The main focus is more oriented toward Shorinjin Kempo, witch is a mix between Japanese and Chinese martial arts, with a much more realistic approach. Rare enough in a movie to be mentioned. Average "kung fu" movie but still enjoyable for having a women as the main character and the usual excess of a 70's pop Japanese exploitation movie. Luckily the Shaolin temple finds protection in the form of a good monk, two Hare Krishna's and a monk from Harlem."

Oh my fucking GOD !!!! I've just been blinded by this visual shuriken, that left me speechless and  looking for more Taiwanese Ninja insanity ! This is just too much: Ninja's secret techniques involving giant aquatic spiders, climbing trees with demon-cat disguises and buriing oneself in the ground, before popping out like rockets. a naked woman fighter specialized in high kicks, black and white Buddhist monks  that looks like transvestite Hare-Krisna (!!), etc......I can't tell you enough about the costumes and general art direction (all over the place) but let's just say that it is a MASTERPIECE of the cheap ninja flick genre. 

Director Robert Tai has committed another major attempt against good taste in 1999 by associating with...Rudy Ray Moore - yes, Dolemite himself -  in the "Shaolin Dolemite", that I will watch very soon.

Just go for it but remember, it is extremely important to drink heavily before watching this film. Not doing so might result in serious injuries to your brain.

Succubare - HK - (1981)

Nasty mondo-like movie from the golden area of HK weirdness, the 80's. The story of the 3 princesses - black magic priestesses is laughable. The mondo insertions - mostly an old villager eating almost anything alive, crawling, swimming or running - are gross, of course. But not so much that it is noticeable. But the costumes are great. I'd like to know from where region are those traditional costumes from: they look more like Indonesian  than Chinese. The rest is not very interesting. My main problem with this movie is that there is WAY too much snakes in it. It's like every scene of possession is plastered with inserts of live snakes...it's really lame. One funny detail: one of the cast main character is Carter Wong, who is not an unknown as he appears also in "John Carpenter's Big trouble in Little China" as one of the three magic warriors, Thunder !!
