The Mack - Michael Campus - USA - (1973)

Plot from Imdb: "Goldie returns from five years at the state pen and winds up king of the pimping game. Trouble comes in the form of two corrupt white cops and a crime lord who wants him to return to the small time."
Great all-time Blaxploitation cult classic ! The dialogues have been sampled one million times by almost every rappers. THe poster is a classic, the costumes are mythical, what to say more ? Well, it is a good movie to begin with. It has a real story, real characters and it holds multiple viewings. Strangely enough, watching this masterpiece now brings a few questions: why was it so popular ? Max Julien acting is top notch but he lacks the basic physical charisma from others greats black stars from that period and there is many "realistic" moments in the movie that makes this story less "entertaining" than the average "black pimp from the ghetto" movie, like "Willie Dynamite" for example. But maybe its is realistic side and the revolutionary message within that still works. Also, if you're a Richard Pryor fan like me, it's a real treat to watch him perform in another dramatic role. Anyway, this is a must-see for any Blaxploitation fan. Can you did it, Bro' ?
