Guang Zhou sha ren wang zhi ren pi ri ji aka Diary of a Serial Killer - Otto Chan - HK - (1995)

Plot:  "Lau Shu Biu hates prostitutes and kills them in order to help them reincarnate as better persons. But one day, Lau fells in love with one of his victims......"

Nasty Cat III from the heydays of Hong-Kong video movies, this  Otto Chan  (see also Screwball'94) no-so-original flick contains everything a real Asian shock movie collector would want to see: gruesome murders (fireworks in the vagina, alive skinning, etc...), rapes, tortures, sleazy sex scenes, abnormal behavior, some incoherent plot twists and many monochromic color lightings , whitch looks like they're coming straight from an 80's music video clip. Writing about it, it is weird to think about it, so many Cat III and/or great crime movies from HK during that time  (like the Milkyway's productions) were using that  monochromic style. Still it is one of the trademark of HK's great director: Johnny To.
There are obvious influences in this film, "Maniac", "Ed Gein", even "Re-Animator" amongst others. unfortunately, this movie is really minor in comparison.
Amongst this horrible (but real !) story,  there is some sort of irony as Lau escapes more than once the police  (depicted as corrupt, stupid and brutal) and the suspicion of his wife (she cannot go to the attic, where he does what he does best)...The family "blindness" to his psychopathic doing is really just too much and one wonders how you could just let your husband tortures young women in the attic, without noticing.
A nice little nasty piece of Cat III for the "aficionados" of the genre.

Sorry no trailer available.
